PalmOne m505 Color HandheldI have owned and used my Palm M505 for several years. I have always been treated extremely rudely every time I have had any contact with Palm. I gave this product one star because there wasn't any lower rating I could give. While this is a great annoyance it is not the end of the world if you have your data backed up on your computer. I will NEVER buy another one of their products. The unit is not at all outstanding, but is functional and works reasonably well. It has occasionally glitched and had to be erased, reset and had all of the data reloaded. Any tech support you receive will cost you a lot of money, and I have always gotten the feeling that their system was set up to insure that this is exactly what will happen to you.
What doesn't work, at least for me, is the extraordinarily POOR support from tech or customer service. Heaven help you WHEN you have a problem out of warranty. In all fairness, the unit itself doesn't rate just one star, (maybe 2-3) but given that you will have to deal with customer service or tech at some point, there is no rating I know of that adequately expresses my disdain for their abysmally poor customer treatment. There are a lot of good alternatives with customer service and tech that are MUCH better.
I find the PalmOne m505 to be a convenient PDA. This handheld is great for storing phone numbers and appointments.In addition, you can use document reader software that allows you tolook at powerpoint, excel and word files. Documents to go is usually included in the software disk that comes with your PDA. These have a color display and are backlit for low/no light condition usage.You can use standard sd cards to expand memory to hold files but not applications.
The unit appeared to work fine but the screen just is not bright enough to do any work with. I returned it to the vendor and he is in the process of swapping it with a unit from another manufacturer.
I bought this new to replace my Palm organizer that was stolen a few years ago. I haven't had any problems with it and I've had it for about three years now.
The Palm M505 is a neat little PDA. It's small size and low price makes it perfect for somebody on the run and someone in need of a durable, compact Palm Pilot. It's features are perfect for students to business people. There are many positive elements to this little Palm.The Palm M505 is the perfect companion for a student. In it's life, my Palm has been dropped numerous times, gotten soaked in water, and gotten thrown into the bottom of a backpack countless times. Again, it is perfect for anyone in need of durable database.
